A wise person does at once, what a fool does at last. Both do the same thing; only at different times.

About This Quote

Aristotle’s take on this quote is that “A wise person does at once, what a fool does at last. Both do the same thing; only at different times.” The notion that an intelligent person should be acting in the present, while a foolish person should act in the future is not something we should blindly accept. The wise person doesn’t wait for the right moment to act; they act in the present moment. Sometimes, there is no right moment to act, but if one waits for another time, he or she will inevitably make the wrong decision.
